Eternal Cycle No.2 (Curing Chamber) is an installation that evokes the life cycle of fabrics through juxtaposing the action of laundry hanging with sausage curing. By reusing waste fabrics generated during the clothing production process, artist Florence Lanxuan Liu shreds all the materials and stuffs them into ‘sausage casing’ before she hangs them on architectural structures adapted to this particular curing system. Eternal Cycle No.2 draws attention to the ironic transformation of fiber materials from fashion outwear to sausage stuffing. As more clothes are designed and manufactured, more fabrics are being discarded, and thus more ‘sausages’ are formed simultaneously, not as a delicacy, but as the excrement of clothing manufacturing.
