Eternal Cycle (Narrator) is an installation built with scaffolding based on the characteristics of the site, with hanging garments creating a scene of “laundry drying”. In this work, the translucent garments are likened to the skin shed by humans, embodying both a sense of publicness and intimacy, acting as a mediator between the body and the world. The different clothing styles symbolize the various social roles. When these ‘shed skins’ are hung among the urban grid, they visually represent a state where individuals temporarily set aside their burdens of identity to take a moment to breathe. The act of drying laundries in urban spaces may detract from the scenery for some, while for others, it serves as a unique spectacle that reveals the honest ways of living. This landscape is both beautiful and rugged, convenient and dangerous. The hurried yet observant passersby momentarily transform into spectators. If they happen to take photos to share, this moment also turns into an act of ‘shai(晒)’.
